Ladies and Gents,
It should be clear from the past several days that there has been a lack of civility in the posts to the forums at PPCLI.com
This situation has now resulted in the banning of one member from participation in any future discussions on the forums. The aim of this site is not to provide a clearinghouse for the narrow views of a few disgruntled cranks, but to allow those with an affiliation to the PPCLI Regimental family an arena to make contact once again with old friends and comrades.
We encourage you to share old stories, tall tales, exagerations of personal exploits etc.
HOWEVER... [since it seems I should spell it out]
1. Say nothing that will dishonour the memory of the Veterans and fallen who have served the Regiment before you;
2. Say nothing that will bring dishonour or discredit to the Regiment;
3. Be aware of your surroundings. We exist in a VERY public arena on the internet, so don't post anything that will lead to your own embarassment [or prosecution!]
4. No Porn. Keep the jokes reasonably above board. Keep your prejudices to yourself until you can get better informed.
This list is by no means exhaustive, but it does recognize what for the rest of us is the foundation of "not-so-common sense" on the internet.
As I am newly arrived and visibly struggling with technical issues [there must be a fire selection lever on this here internet thingy - I need to put the darn thing on "Safe" ] I appreciate your patience as we work to upgrade and update the forums and the site at ppcli.com. My intent will be to have an appropriate content policy in place soonest. This will likely include new content, a new upgraded board [this one is no longer supported] as well as new-fangled concepts such as board moderators.
I hope you will assist by participating in any discussions we hold on these topics with your customary openness and candour.
I will post the letter I sent to the banned individual in the Better 'Ole.
cheers
Lt Colin MacKenzie
